Initial Goals
The primary focus of The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. initially will be on its Education component, establishing The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. Scholarship Fund. Distributions from the Scholarship Fund will be made to colleges and universities identified by churches in the organization’s database. The database for The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. currently consists of over 8,000 predominately African-American churches as identified on its service web site, The Black Church Page (www.theblackchurchpage.com), which serves as a gateway between The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. and African-American churches and their members. The individual churches will select the individuals within their congregation who will have funds distributed on their behalf to the college or university that they will be attending. The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. will have no role in the selection process of individuals. By working directly with the churches in this manner, these distributions will make funds available to aid in and advance the ability to obtain a quality education for members of predominately African-American churches.
Additionally, with focus still on its Education component, The Black Church Resource Group plans to design structured programs to prepare students for college.
As the focus of The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. expands to other areas, attempts will be made to collaborate with other non-profit organizations whose primary focus in on the particular area of interest. This will be especially true in the area of Health Awareness. In the area of Technological Support, focus will be on educating churches in the latest technology to better equip them to serve both their daily needs as an organization as well as to better serve their congregation.
By working with and within the African-American church to provide services, programs, and solutions and by focusing on certain areas, such as Health Awareness, Education, and Technological Support, The Black Church Resource Group, Inc. will aid in bridging the socioeconomic gap that exists in these areas between the African-American population and other races.
